The Society of The Eendracht and The Nieuw Nederland shall perpetuate the memory of those pioneering colonial Dutch men and women who through their hardships and trials created a new homeland free from political and religious persecution in Nieuw Amsterdam, and by their ideals and endeavors contributed greatly to the development of the nation of the United States of America and its culture.

The only four families known to have arrived aboard either The Eendracht or The Nieuw Nederland in 1624 are these:

1. Joris Rapalje and Catalina Trico;
2. Jean Monfort and his wife Jacqueline Moreau and their son;
3. Philippe du Trieux, a Walloon, was probably accompanied by his second wife Susanne du Chesne, and his children Philippe and Marie; and
4. Ghislain and Adrienne (Cuvellier) Vigne and their children Marie, Christine, and Rachel.

The 1624 venture was captained by Cornelius Jacobsen Mey, who was also appointed by the Dutch West Company to be the first director of Nieuw Amsterdam.

Membership is by invitation only to Ladies and Gentlemen who lineally descend from a 1624 passenger or crew of De Eendracht or Nieuw Nederland.
